The initially higher college softball games commence Wednesday, Michigan climate permitting, with players eyeing a possible tournament run ending in the state finals June 17 at Michigan State University.
Defending state champions are Allen Park (Division 1), Stevensville-Lakeshore (Division two), Millington (Division three) and Unionville-Sebewaing (Division four).
The Michigan Higher College Softball Coaches Association has announced its preseason rankings for 4 divisions.
Division 1
Honorable Mention: Canton, Lake Orion, Rockford, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, South Lyon East, Walled Lake Northern, Zeeland West.
Division two
Honorable Mention: Large Rapids, Clio, Cheboygan, Coopersville, Edwardsburg, Freeland, Gladwin, Hamilton, New Boston Huron, North Branch, Richmond, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Wayland.
Division three
Honorable Mention: Buchanan, Cass City, Clare, Clinton, Coloma, Delton Kellogg, Grass Lake, Ithaca, Laingsburg, Negaunee, New Lothrop, Pewamo-Westphalia, Ravenna, Standish-Sterling.
Division four
Honorable Mention: Athens, Coleman, Inland Lakes, Marion, MP Sacred Heart, Mendon, Portland St. Patrick.
