Microsoft has announced the addition of former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former OpenAI president Greg Brockman to its ranks. This news was announced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who expressed excitement about the move and is committed to providing both Altman and Brockman with the resources they need for success. Despite their departure from OpenAI, the company remains committed to its partnership with the organization.
After being ousted from OpenAI, Sam Altman faced some confusion when the company’s board appeared to consider reversing their decision before settling on former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as the interim CEO. This major change in leadership came after the board declared they had lost confidence in Altman’s leadership abilities. Mira Murati, former OpenAI CTO, openly supported Altman and has now been replaced by Shear.
Microsoft did not provide immediate comment or details about the new team joining the company. In a post on X, Brockman stated that he, Altman, and others planned to “build something new” and “incredible” at Microsoft.
