Cory Cumings, a Mitchell businessman, is currently under investigation after new information emerged about the raid of his home and business. According to court documents, agents discovered drugs and hundreds of firearms, including a machine gun during the raid.
In December, Cumings was initially arrested for drug and stalking charges in Aurora County. Authorities found 3 ounces of THC wax in his bedroom and a scale with meth residue inside a safe accessible only to Cumings. It was also reported that Cumings made threatening remarks about hiring a hitman to kill a woman prior to the raid.
Federal court documents reveal that on December 21, ATF agents seized 147 items from Cumings’ home and business, Mitchell Roofing and Siding. The items confiscated include 125 guns, along with rifles, shotguns, pistols, and a machine gun. Additionally, eight silencers and over 10,000 rounds of ammunition were found by investigators.
Under federal law, firearms or ammunition can be seized from individuals who illegally use drugs. Cumings was arrested earlier this year for driving under the influence of drugs while already out on bond for three more DUI charges. He has a court hearing scheduled on July 11 for his cases in Aurora and Davison Counties.
