In Lansing, the Momentum Center, a local nonprofit organization, was recently honored with the Hometown Health Hero Award from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for its efforts in promoting health within the community. The Momentum Center provides a supportive environment for youth over age 11 and adults with mental illness, addiction, and disabilities. With locations in Grand Haven and Holland, the organization offers a variety of social and recreational activities, classes, events, and meals, allowing members to interact without fear of stigma or stereotypes.
