Mommy & Me Sourdough Painting: A Special Class for Amanda Flann and her Daughter

Amanda Flann, a mother of three, started her own direct-to-consumer, porch-pickup business in June 2022 after growing her own sourdough starter in January of the same year. Her daughter, Scottie, is always close by as she bakes and helps out with small but helpful tasks. Flann founded her business, As Much As You Knead, during a challenging season of life and wanted to be able to stay home with her daughter while pursuing her passion for baking.

Flann offers sourdough-making classes which she enjoys as an extrovert and people person. Last Mother’s Day, she offered pre-painted bread decorated with flowers as a unique gift. This year, Flann and her daughter are preparing to hold a class together where loved ones and their children can create painted bread of their own. Flann believes that this class is a special opportunity for her and her daughter to work together and share the joy of baking with others.

The “Mommy & Me Sourdough Painting” class will be held on Saturday, May 11 at Poly’s Place Coffee from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $45 per person, and participants will each receive a fresh-baked sourdough loaf to decorate with food-safe paint and markers. Flann expresses gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside her youngest best friend and teach others the art of baking.

Amanda Flann started selling baked goods through a direct-to-consumer business in June 2022 after growing her own sourdough starter in January of that same year.

Flann wanted to ensure that her daughter never felt like she was second to her job as she believes that this time with her daughter is irreplaceable.

As Much As You Knead was founded during what Flann described as a challenging season of life.

She found baking to be a restful activity and wanted to start her own business so that she could stay home with her daughter.

In December 2022, she began offering sourdough-making classes which she enjoys as an extrovert and people person.

For Mother’s Day last year
