Ed Scott, a sports administrator from Virginia, is hired as Memphis AD

Memphis welcomes Ed Scott as its new athletic director and senior vice president. Prior to joining Memphis, Scott served at the University of Virginia, where he led various sports programs including men’s basketball, baseball, swimming and diving, and track and field. He also worked as a special adviser to the head football coach.

At Virginia, Scott made significant contributions to the athletic department, which has prepared him well for his new role at Memphis. President Bill Hardgrave expressed his excitement about Scott joining the Tiger family, praising him as a forward-thinking leader who will bring new ideas and energy to the university’s sports programs.

Scott is grateful for this opportunity and looks forward to leading the Memphis athletic department. He recognizes the potential for success within the university and is eager to work with coaches, athletes, staffers, and supporters to achieve greatness. With the departure of former athletic director Laird Veatch, Scott is ready to step into his new role and continue the tradition of excellence at Memphis.
