New Businesses and Exciting Beginnings: A-J’s Insider Look at Amarillo’s Latest Ventures

Dear A-J readers, this week was filled with exciting updates and new beginnings. On Wednesday, two new businesses opened their doors to the public. Cyrus Kabob launched their family’s Persian recipes at their new restaurant on 421 Frankford Ave., while Hairbreak Hotel unveiled their Elvis Presley themed hair salon at 2614 130th St., Unit 3., along with their exclusive line of beard oil.

On Thursday, Lil Homiez Barbershop and Salon joined the scene at 5302 Ave. Q, Suite 17. Meanwhile, two articles from the business beat were published, shedding light on the journey of a local designer, Dawna Gillespie of Dawna Gillespie Adornments. Gillespie shared how a metalsmithing class at Texas Tech propelled her towards becoming an internationally recognized designer. She expressed that her work is all about representing human life, from soul to soul, and narrating her stories through her pieces to illustrate that we are all unique individuals.

My conversation with Gillespie led me to Ransom Canyon for the first time, and I was left in awe by the stunning landscapes there. This hidden gem should be talked about more often, so I highly recommend taking a drive out to this scenic location whenever you get the chance.

The second major story of the week was the monthly business roundup for April, showcasing 15 entries including nine openings, two closings, and four upcoming/denied announcements. Looking ahead to next week, no concrete plans have been finalized yet, so I may circle back on some rumored establishments. Thank you for your continuous support and for reading the A-J.
