Tiger recruits experienced caddie for Genesis Invitational comeback

In a surprising move, Tiger Woods is set to debut a new looper at this week’s Genesis Invitational. Golfweek reports that Woods will have veteran caddie Lance Bennett on the bag at Riviera. Bennett, who has caddied for Matt Kuchar, Sungjae Im and Davis Riley in the past, currently works for rookie Adrien Dumont de Chassart, who is not in the field and is represented by the same agency as Woods, Excel Sports.

Woods mutually parted ways with longtime caddie Joe LaCava last year. LaCava took on more of a full-time bag with Patrick Cantlay. However, Woods’ business partner Rob McNamara caddied for him at the Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship. The Golfweek report notes that Bennett isn’t necessarily a permanent solution for Woods’ bag.

This change in caddies could be an indication that Woods is looking to shake things up on the course and find someone who can help him improve his game. It remains to be seen how well Bennett will perform with Woods, but it’s clear that he has experience working with some of the top players in the game.
