The Lakewood Health System in Staples recently announced the construction of a new cancer center, set to be completed by the summer of 2025. The 19,270 square-foot addition will be located just southwest of the clinic and groundbreaking is scheduled for spring.
The decision to move forward with the project was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. There has also been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.
The state-of-the-art cancer center will feature advanced facilities such as 14 infusion bays and an in-house PET/CT scan machine. This addition is unprecedented in a rural setting like Staples and will greatly benefit both patients and healthcare workers.
Among its amenities, the cancer center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area, with oncology case managers conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients. This project is a significant step for the local healthcare system and will greatly benefit the community.
