The new Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is set to take place on July 18, with players from all around the world invited to participate in the global competition on the Nintendo Switch. This digital-only edition of the competition will test participants’ skills with over 150 small challenges based on classic NES games, including Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, and others.

To qualify for the World Championship, players must first hone their skills in single-player mode (Speedrun) before moving on to compete locally in Party mode. Subscription to Nintendo Switch Online grants access to the World Championship mode, where players can compete in five rotating challenges each week to try and secure a spot on the global leaderboard.

Fans of classic Nintendo games won’t want to miss out on this exciting and nostalgic event. In addition to competing in the challenges, a Deluxe edition of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will be available on July 18, featuring a physical version of the title, collectible pins, illustrated cards, and a replica of the golden NES ‘game pak’.

This new digital-only edition of the competition promises to be an exciting opportunity for fans of classic Nintendo games to showcase their skills and compete on a global level.
