The New York Jets have announced that head coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas will remain with the team for the 2024 season. However, there have been some changes made to the sports performance and sports science staff.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, director of high performance Brad DeWeese has left the organization, along with assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman and director of sports science Matt Sams who were hired under Saleh in 2021.
Alexander Carnall has taken over as the sports science coordinator, but no new additions have been made on the performance side of things. Cimini reports that the departures were not performance-based, but Douglas noted the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the last two seasons. To address this issue, the team acquired veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses in hopes of improving the line’s performance. Keeping these players healthy will be crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming 2024 season.
