Teenage midfielder Lewis Miley, 18, who plays for both Newcastle United and the England Under-20 side, is facing a setback with a broken metatarsal. Despite an impressive season with Newcastle in the Premier League, making 17 appearances, Miley will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks due to his injury. This means he is likely to miss the start of the upcoming league season. In addition to this injury, Miley had also suffered a back injury towards the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
With just under seven weeks until the season opener, Miley will be unable to participate in any of the club’s pre-season training sessions or matches, including the upcoming tour of Japan in July. Despite his young age, Miley already has experience playing in high-stakes matches, having featured in three Champions League games last season and scoring a goal in the Premier League.
The talented midfielder will now have to focus on his recovery and rehabilitation in order to return to action as soon as possible. Newcastle’s first league game is scheduled for 17 August, when they face Southampton at home. While Miley may not be able to participate in any matches during this time, he will continue to support his teammates from the sidelines and work hard towards a speedy recovery.
