Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Florida State took on North Carolina in their own elimination game. The Seminoles emerged victorious with a final score of 9-5, leaving North Carolina out of the tournament. Florida State’s standout performances included Max Williams, who went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI, and a run, and Jaxson West, who went 4-for-5 with a homer, two RBI, and a walk.
Florida State used a strong fifth inning to take a commanding lead of 7-1. Despite North Carolina rallying with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Seminoles held them off and added two insurance runs in the ninth inning. Pitcher Connor Hults played a key role in the Seminoles’ victory by going 4.1 innings while allowing just two hits, no runs, and striking out two. North Carolina’s Aidan Hulgh took the loss in the game.
