Despite being relatively new to the sector, Oracle founder Larry Ellison believes the company has a moral obligation to address the challenges facing the industry. Nashville, Tennessee has long been a prominent player in health care, with its reputation as a hub dating back to the founding of HCA Healthcare in 1968.

In 2020, Oracle relocated its headquarters from Silicon Valley to Austin, Texas as part of its efforts to expand its presence in the health care sector. During a recent announcement, Ellison emphasized the company’s focus on this industry and called it “the center of our concerns.” However, he later admitted that he maybe shouldn’t have said it so spontaneously. Shares of Oracle remained relatively unchanged in extended trading following the announcement.

Oracle has been developing a $1.2 billion campus in Nashville over the past three years, indicating its commitment to establishing a strong presence in the city. Ellison expressed enthusiasm for Nashville during an interview with Senator Bill Frist and called it “the center of Oracle’s future.” Despite this significant announcement, Oracle did not provide immediate comments when CNBC requested more information.
