Famous ski and snowboard manufacturer files for bankruptcy

The company Antero GmbH, founded in 2009, has been attempting to operate in the former premises of a snowboard factory from 2021 onwards. Their aim was to build a new ski and snowboard production facility for premium-class products in Fürnitz. However, the pandemic and its consequences have caused retail sales figures to fall short, resulting in over-indebtedness. Bankruptcy proceedings have been opened at the Klagenfurt Regional Court over the company’s assets, with liabilities amounting to 2.274 million euros.

Originally, the company had 15 employees, but currently there are only three. Antero GmbH’s online platform offers individual snowboards, winter sports items, textiles, a community, entertainment features, and current information for fans of the board sports scene. The company also targets companies that produce individual small series for special occasions.

Despite facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic and negative equity of 489,000 euros in the 2022 financial year with an accumulated loss of 854,000 euros around 600,000 euros in liabilities relate to profit participation rights; Antero GmbH intends to continue operations in order to make the best possible use of existing raw materials and clarify whether financial and organizational requirements for restructuring plan application can be met.
