On April 15, 2024, the Alpha Zeta Nu Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, held an induction ceremony at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Five new members were inducted during the event: Elenora Franco, Haleigh Lewellyan, Jessica DeFreese, Mallory LaBoeuf and Melanna Morris. The keynote address was given by David Orr, City Manager of Texarkana, Texas and Chiquita Burks, current City Management Fellow.
Pi Sigma Alpha aims to promote the scientific and practical study of government problems, foster reforms in governmental machinery and educate the electorate on government issues. Membership into Pi Sigma Alpha is based on academic criteria including an overall GPA within the top one-third of the graduating class and a GPA of 3.5 or better in Political Science courses as well as more than twelve hours of political science courses.
Pi Sigma Alpha is a national political science honor society founded in 1919 at the University of Texas. It brings together students and faculty interested in political science studies. The organization has over 700 chapters worldwide and induces approximately 800 new members annually.
