Pittsburgh Steelers’ General Manager Omar Khan Unsure About Future of Running Back Najee Harris Beyond 2025

The Steelers General Manager Omar Khan has decided not to exercise the fifth-year option on running back Najee Harris’s rookie contract, but he believes that the young star could have a future in Pittsburgh beyond 2025. Khan expressed his admiration for Harris both as a player and as a person and mentioned that the team could potentially sign him to a contract extension before he hits free agency.

While some NFL teams are hesitant to invest heavily in running backs, Harris may still have a chance to secure a good contract with the Steelers. Khan hinted that the team is open to negotiating a long-term deal with Harris, showing that they value his contributions to the team. Despite not picking up his option, Harris’s future with the Steelers seems promising.

Khan personally informed Harris of the decision not to pick up his option and expressed optimism about the possibility of doing business with him long term. He believes that Harris represents the team well both on and off the field, making him an asset not only on the field but also in terms of public relations.

Harris has had an impressive start to his career with the Steelers, leading the team in rushing yards and touchdowns in 2021. His versatility and speed make him a valuable asset to any NFL team, and it’s likely that many teams will be interested in signing him when he becomes available. However, Khan believes that if they can come to an agreement on terms, he would like to see Harris have a long career in Pittsburgh.

Overall, while it may be uncertain what happens next for Harris after this season ends, there is no doubt that he has bright future ahead of him both on and off the field. With his talent and hard work ethic, he will undoubtedly continue to excel wherever he goes.
