In a remarkable breakthrough, the Fulton Police Department in New York has successfully located a missing vulnerable person using a drone. On Monday evening, the person was reported missing by their family and the police quickly mobilized a drone operator to assist in the search and rescue effort.
The drone was deployed around 7:50 p.m. to cover a wooded area near the 600 block of Gansvoort Street. The use of thermal imaging allowed the drone operator to locate the missing person at approximately 8:12 p.m. The operator then directed ground units to the location where they found the person in good health and helped them out of the woods by officers. They were later reunited with their family.
Deputy Chief Chris Dempsey emphasized the importance of using cutting-edge technology for the safety of both community members and officers in this successful recovery effort. This case serves as a reminder that technology can play an essential role in emergency response operations, making them more efficient and effective.
