Record-Breaking Donation: Mays Business School Receives $25 Million from Mays Family Foundation

Texas A&M’s Mays Business School in College Station received a $25 million donation from the Mays Family Foundation on Friday, marking its largest single donation in history. The contribution will kick off new construction for a building that will support expanded graduate programs, accommodate increasing enrollment, and enhance existing ones.

The goal of the project is to position the school as a leader in business education and propel it to the top of national rankings. During the announcement, Mays Dean Nate Sharp emphasized the importance of having top students, staff, faculty, and alumni to achieve this goal. The support of the Mays Family Foundation and Lowry Mays will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the business school.

Lowry Mays’ daughter, Kathy Mays Johnson, and her daughter were present at the event to present the donation. Their commitment to Texas A&M and the Mays Business School was met with multiple standing ovations, highlighting the impact of their family’s contributions.

Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp and Texas A&M Foundation President Tyson Voelkel also attended the event, praising Lowry Mays’ philanthropy and vision for the future of the business school. Together, the Mays family has now donated a total of $72 million to Texas A&M, solidifying their legacy as key supporters of higher education.
