US Women’s Team Advances to World Championships Semifinals After Beating Australia 10-9

The USA Women’s National Team has advanced to the semifinal round of the 2024 World Aquatics World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Maddie Musselman scored three goals for Team USA, with Jenna Flynn and Maggie Steffens each adding two in the win. Ashleigh Johnson made a total of 11 saves for Team USA.

On Wednesday at 8 am ET / 5 am PT, the Women’s National Team will face Spain in the semifinal round. Live streaming is available via Peacock, and live stats from Total Water Polo are also available. Omega Timing provides official post-game stats.

Flynn and Steffens were the only scores for the United States in the first quarter. Later on, Musselman scored two goals to make it 5-3 at the half. In the third quarter, Johnson made a total of 8 saves for Team USA.

Steffens and Jovana Sekulic each added another goal to make the final score 8-3. Jewel Roemer scored a 10th goal for the USA scoreboard. Australia scored five unanswered goals in the final quarter of play, but Team USA was able to hold them off and take the 10-9 win to advance to the semifinal round.

The United States went 5/9 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties, while Australia was 3/6 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty. The scoring was as follows: USA
