Reds Prospect Rhett Lowder Earns Promotion to Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts, Moving One Step Closer to the Majors

Cincinnati Reds prospect Rhett Lowder has been recently promoted from High-A Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. Lowder made five starts for the Dragons before his promotion, with his professional debut in April being particularly impressive. He pitched four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

During his time with Dayton, Lowder demonstrated a 2.49 ERA and 0.947 WHIP in 25 1/3 innings, with six walks, 29 strikeouts, and two home runs allowed. His strong performance earned him a spot on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 list in January, where he debuted at No. 34 and currently sits at No. 30.

Lowder’s promotion coincided with right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes moving up from Triple-A Indianapolis to the Majors. Skenes is set to make his first big-league start against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at PNC Park. Lowder was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft and is now looking forward to continuing his development in Chattanooga.

In addition to Lowder’s promotion, right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore was transferred from Chattanooga to Dayton. Social media reactions to Lowder’s advancement have been overwhelmingly positive, with fans and analysts alike acknowledging his progress and potential within the Reds’ farm system. The news of Lowder’s promotion has generated excitement among Cincinnati fans and baseball enthusiasts alike as they eagerly anticipate his continued success as he climbs through the ranks of the organization.
