Hitachi Vantara Collaborates with NVIDIA to Advance Artificial Intelligence Innovation

Hitachi Vantara, a leading provider of data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management solutions, has announced a revolutionary partnership with NVIDIA to develop a new generation of transformative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. This collaboration will lead to the creation of a portfolio of products called Hitachi iQ, which aims to simplify the process of generating AI-driven outcomes by combining industry-specific capabilities with existing AI technologies.

The emergence of data-intensive technologies like generative AI is rapidly reshaping businesses, but they also place additional strain on IT environments. According to a recent report from S&P Global Market Intelligence, only one-third of respondents believe their companies can consistently handle internal demand for AI workloads. The partnership between Hitachi Vantara and NVIDIA is designed to address these challenges by introducing hybrid cloud-enabled AI capabilities to accelerate the generation of business insights.

Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, emphasized the significance of this partnership, highlighting the company’s ability to leverage its broad expertise across various industry sectors to support the acceleration of AI-driven digital transformation. This collaboration will combine NVIDIA’s leadership in AI with Hitachi Vantara’s expertise in hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and services to help customers overcome future challenges and establish a strong foundation for data-driven innovation.

Hitachi iQ solutions are built on NVIDIA’s latest AI technologies and Hitachi Vantara’s advanced storage platforms to meet market demands and facilitate the digital transformation of enterprises. Customers will have access to a range of consumption models that guarantee optimized performance and a strong return on investment. The first product in the Hitachi iQ portfolio is set to launch in the first quarter of Hitachi’s fiscal year 2024. It will be powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs and certified as an NVIDIA DGX BasePOD solution that includes NVIDIA DGX H100 systems and NVIDIA software AI Enterprise. This cutting-edge architecture provides a powerful platform for handling complex AI workloads.

Charlie Boyle, vice president of DGX platforms at NVIDIA, explained that companies across all industries are establishing AI centers for data intelligence. With Hitachi Vantara’s solutions powered by NVIDIA DGX software and infrastructure, customers will be able to establish AI centers of excellence and enhance their generative AI strategies. As part of this broader collaboration with NVIDIA, Hitachi will focus on developing industry-specific generative AI models, particularly for Operational Technology (OT), positioning itself as a leading provider
