On Thursday, April 6, 2024, the School of Public Health at the University celebrated its new home in the renovated Edna S. Brigham Building with a joyous ribbon cutting ceremony and opening remarks from university leadership. The occasion was a significant moment for the school, marking its continued commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing public health both locally and globally.
President Sandoval took the opportunity to highlight the School’s impact within the community, emphasizing its role in preparing students for leadership positions in the future of public health in Nevada and beyond. He commended the School for its work in policy implementation, systemic change, health program development and evaluation, wide-scale service provision, and innovative research.
Dean Akpinar-Elci also spoke at the event, reflecting on the journey that led to the opening of the new building and expressing her gratitude for the collaborative effort that made it possible.
