Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease on the Rise in Hanoi
The Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) has reported a recent increase in hand, foot, and mouth disease cases in the past two weeks, with 3 outbreaks occurring at preschools. The city is currently recording 60-70 cases of the disease each week, totaling 300 cases in the first three months of the year. This is an increase of 75 more cases compared to the same period last year.
The rise in hand, foot, and mouth cases is not limited to Hanoi as the Ministry of Health has reported over 6,000 cases in the country in the first quarter. This is double compared to the same period last year. Unpredictable weather conditions have created favorable conditions for infectious diseases such as measles, chickenpox, hand, foot, and mouth disease to increase. This has led to a heightened risk of outbreaks.
The CDC in Hanoi warns that more cases and outbreaks may occur and emphasizes the importance of monitoring and early detection at health stations, preschools, and elementary schools to prevent wider infections in the community. Hand, foot
