Rising Stars Goodliffe and Gordon Boost Colchester United’s Summer Squad

Colchester United has just made two new signings, increasing their total summer signings to four. In a matter of just thirty minutes, the club welcomed defender Ben Goodliffe and striker John-Kymani Gordon to the squad. Goodliffe, 25, joins Colchester after spending five seasons with Sutton United, where he was part of the team that won promotion to the Football League in 2021. He leaves the club after their relegation to the National League.

Gordon, 21, also joins Colchester after leaving Premier League club Crystal Palace. Both players have signed a two-year deal and will join goalkeeper Matt Macey and winger Harry Anderson as recent additions to the squad.

Colchester boss Danny Cowley is thrilled with the new signings and particularly praised Goodliffe for his love for the game and commitment to improvement. Cowley believes that Goodliffe will make a positive impact on both ends of the field. He also spoke highly of Gordon’s pace, ability to carry the ball, and end product. Cowley sees him as an exciting addition to the team and believes he will bring athleticism and an edge that will benefit Colchester United.

Goodliffe was on loan at Carlisle when they won promotion from League Two in 2023, showcasing his potential as a talented young player. Gordon was also on loan at Carlisle during that time, where he played a crucial role in their promotion campaign.

Overall, these two signings are significant for Colchester United as they strengthen their defense and offense respectively. With these new additions to their squad, they are well positioned for success in the upcoming season.
