Following the trade deadline, reports emerged that the Jets had made attempts to acquire Raiders receiver Davante Adams and Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans. While the Jets may still pursue Adams again in 2024, ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter revealed that the team plans to make another attempt after the current season concludes. Meanwhile, the Raiders face a similar cap situation if they choose to trade Adams this year or next year before June 1. If a trade is made in 2024, it would trigger a $23.55 million cap charge for the team.

The potential trade between the Jets and Raiders could reunite Adams with former teammate Aaron Rodgers, as well as Nathaniel Hackett, Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb. However, if Adams is only interested in playing for the Jets in 2024, it could weaken the Raiders’ leverage in March when attempting to trade him. It remains to be seen whether the Raiders will prioritize securing a better deal in the offseason or rushing into a trade on Halloween.
