Russian and Ukrainian troops have been in positions on opposite banks of the Dnieper River for over a year. On Friday, Ukraine’s armed forces officially confirmed that their troops had reached positions across the river for the first time. This was a significant advance in the region, unconfirmed information about which had already been received earlier. However, Humeniuk did not specify whether Ukrainian forces have gained complete control of the area or whether Russian forces have withdrawn.

According to Russia, Ukrainian troops have pushed back three to eight kilometers from the riverbank. The estimate varied due to landforms on the beach. Nonetheless, Humeniuk stated that Ukrainian troops had managed to push Russian troops several kilometers away from the Dnieper River on its eastern bank in Kherson region. Despite this progress, it is still uncertain if Ukraine has gained complete control of the area or if Russian forces have withdrawn entirely.
