Thousands of people join the army in Russia seeking vengeance for Moscow terrorist attack

Russia has reported a surge in the number of citizens signing military service contracts as professional soldiers. Over 100,000 people have signed up since the beginning of the year, with 16,000 joining in the past 10 days. Many of these individuals expressed their desire to avenge the victims of terrorism, particularly in response to a tragic event in Moscow on March 22.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the motivation for many candidates to sign contracts was driven by a desire to seek justice for the victims of the Moscow tragedy. Current laws in Russia prevent conscripts from being mobilized for combat missions outside the country, so the Russian army is relying on professional soldiers serving on long-term contracts. These soldiers receive intensive training and are equipped with modern weapons and technology.

To further bolster its military capabilities, Russia announced plans to establish two additional combined military groups and 30 new units this year. The army has also expanded its existing divisions and brigades. The Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, unveiled these plans with the aim of strengthening the country’s defense forces.

The tragic incident at Crocus City Hall theater in Moscow has heightened tensions between Russia and Western nations. Russian officials have accused Western and Ukrainian intelligence of supporting attackers and have made arrests connected to it. However, specific evidence linking these claims has not been made public yet. IS-K has claimed responsibility for the attack while Ukraine denied involvement.

Russia is taking measures to address these security challenges by encouraging more citizens to join its armed forces as professional soldiers. Posters and advertisements promoting military service are widespread across cities throughout Russia.

In conclusion, Russia’s surge in military recruitment reflects its growing concerns over national security threats such as terrorism and potential aggression from foreign powers like Ukraine or NATO allies.

Overall, Russia’s decision to increase its military presence comes at a time when global security threats are rising rapidly due to various factors such as political instability, economic downturns, religious extremism, climate change etc., which pose significant challenges not only for Russia but also other countries worldwide.

Therefore, it is essential that nations around the world work together effectively towards finding sustainable solutions to these complex issues while respecting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
