In preparation for Valentine’s Day, the Tulsa Health Department’s substance abuse prevention program and the StopDUI Task Force are urging residents who drink alcohol to do so responsibly and safely, or to try a fun mocktail instead. The StopDUI Task Force and the substance abuse prevention program of THD collaborated to present a Facebook Live mocktail tutorial for Valentine’s Day, which will take place on Friday, February 9. THD Prevention Specialist Kandice Lawson and Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Kirby will share delicious recipes for festive drinks that are perfect for the occasion.
If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic option, then Circus of Love is the perfect mocktail for you! This recipe requires just a few simple ingredients: one large carbonated beverage, a jar of marshmallow fluff, four glasses, a container of cotton candy, and sprinkles. To make it, roll the rim of each glass in marshmallow fluff before dipping it in sprinkles. Pour three-fourths of your favorite carbonated beverage into each glass and stir in some cotton candy until well combined. Then sit back and enjoy this sweet treat!
If you’re more in the mood for something tangy and refreshing, then Stop in the Name of Love is sure to hit the spot. This recipe calls for two ounces each of sparkling hibiscus red grape juice, lemon-lime soda, and orange juice. You’ll also need an orange wheel and several Valentine’s Candy Hearts. Crush some ice with a spoon or blender before adding it to your glass along with all three juices. Stir everything together until well mixed before adding your candy hearts and garnishing with an orange wheel before serving!
If you prefer something fruitier than these two options then Kandi-Coated Punch might just be what you need! This recipe combines two liters of Sprite with 52 ounces of Simply Lemonade with Raspberry Juice (one per pack), 52 ounces of Simply Lemonade with Strawberry Juice (one per pack), and 46 ounces canned Dole Pineapple Juice (one per can). Slice up some strawberries and raspberries from each pack separately as well as cut up some pineapples from the canned juice. Add all ingredients together into a pitcher or large bowl stirring well until everything is evenly mixed before pouring into glasses full of ice
