Senator Joni Ernst’s Small Business of the Week Spotlight: The Cottage of Crawford County

In recognition of their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community building, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst has announced The Cottage of Crawford County as her Small Business of the Week. As Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, Ernst plans to highlight a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties throughout this Congress.

The Cottage of Crawford County is a thriving small business run by mother-daughter duo Cindy and Taylor Borkowski. The Borkowskis turned their passion for home decor into a successful enterprise in Denison, selling quality home decor and offering a selection of children, baby, seasonal, and devotional items. Their products are often showcased on their Facebook page, and the business has received numerous accolades over the years, including being named the Best Boutique in Crawford County and winning the Innovators Award from the local Chamber and Development Council.

Cindy and Taylor purchased the Your Treasure Chest home decor store in 2020 and re-opened it as The Cottage on Broadway in Denison. This year marks their fourth business anniversary, and they continue to be recognized for their contributions to the community. Co-founder Taylor also plays an active role as a community leader, organizing Denison’s Hot Summer Nights series.
