Senator Ossoff’s Bipartisan Efforts to Address Emergency Health Care Access Disparities in Atlanta Region

Senator Jon Ossoff has announced plans to improve emergency health care access for families in the metro Atlanta area. With several hospitals closing recently, he is working with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) to conduct a study on transportation access to emergency healthcare services. The study aims to identify disparities in emergency health care access and address the needs of families that require urgent medical attention.

Through his bipartisan efforts, Senator Ossoff secured $543,000 for this project in this year’s government funding package. He hopes that by bringing Republicans and Democrats together, he can expedite progress and ensure that all families in metro Atlanta have access to emergency health care when they need it most. He expressed gratitude to Mayor Andre Dickens and ARC Executive Director & CEO Anna Roach for their collaboration and leadership in bringing this proposal forward.

Mayor Dickens emphasized the importance of addressing healthcare access disparities in the Atlanta region, noting that access can vary significantly depending on one’s ZIP code. He stressed that this study is a crucial first step towards making informed decisions that can ultimately save lives.

Anna Roach highlighted the critical importance of people having access to emergency health services, regardless of where they live. She stressed that every minute is crucial during a health emergency like a heart attack or stroke, and can make a difference between life and death.
