Seven MU Grad Students and Alumni Secure NSF Graduate Research Fellowships, Earning Honorable Mention for Five Others

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program is a five-year initiative that supports outstanding graduate students in STEM disciplines pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions. Seven students and alumni from the University of Missouri (MU) were recently selected for the program, while five others received honorable mention. The recipients come from a variety of disciplines, including mechanical engineering, wildlife and fisheries science, neuroscience, biochemistry, biological sciences, and chemical engineering. Honorable mentions were given to those studying psychology, pathobiology, plant, insect and microbial sciences, biological sciences, and human development and family science.

The program aims to recognize and support outstanding graduate students in STEM fields by providing financial assistance and opportunities for furthering research and academic pursuits. Through the fellowship program, eligible students receive three years of financial support with an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to their institution. This funding can be used to cover tuition costs or other expenses related to their research or academic pursuits. In addition to the financial support provided by the program, recipients also have access to opportunities for professional development and networking through various NSF programs and initiatives.
