Shakira Loses Money on First World Tour Due to $1 Million Cobra

Shakira has always been known for her attention to detail in the production of her tours and performances. However, this meticulous approach has caused her to lose money on some occasions. During an interview with Sean Evans on Hot Ones, the Colombian pop star revealed that she lost money on her 2002 Tour of the Mongoose due to a giant cobra background element used at the start of her shows. The expensive production of the cobra resulted in a financial loss for Shakira despite the tour being sold out in various locations.

The Tour of the Mongoose marked Shakira’s third-ever tour and celebrated the release of her first English album, Laundry Service. Throughout the tour, she performed popular songs like “Whenever, Wherever,” “The One,” and “Ciega, Sordomuda.” In addition to sharing details about her past tours, Shakira also mentioned her admiration for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. She reached out to him to help translate her song “Loba” into English for its version “She Wolf” but ultimately wrote the lyrics herself.

Despite facing challenges in her career, Shakira continues to thrive in the music industry and collaborate with other talented artists for new projects. Recently, she released her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, featuring collaborations with artists like Cardi B, Grupo Frontera, and Rauw Alejandro. The new album includes tracks like “Puntería,” “Entre Paréntesis,” and “Cohete.”
