The health science department at Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) partnered with Mississippi Blood Services to host a successful spring blood drive on Feb. 6, in celebration of Career and Technical Education Month. More than 20 pints of blood were collected, potentially saving many lives.
The event provided valuable learning opportunities for students enrolled in the health science program at SCTC. They gained skills in event planning, teamwork, communication, and community engagement while also developing an understanding of the significance of blood donations in healthcare. Through this experience, they fostered empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
Brenda White, the health science instructor, played a crucial role in organizing this event and SCTC appreciates her hard work in making it a successful and impactful initiative.
