Instead of suggesting the use of bikes as substitutes for skis in slalom skiing, fatbike XC courses could be a better alternative. These courses would still require the fundamental skills of XC racing but in a unique format. Another suggestion would be to create a “skiercross but on bikes” event, similar to Dual Slalom but with larger and more elaborate courses. Using bikes with skis instead of tires on these courses could add an extra level of excitement.
However, it’s important to note that using bikes as substitutes for skis in slalom skiing is not practical and doesn’t make sense. While there may be a desire for wintertime biking on snow events, there are better options that the UCI can explore to make something more interesting to watch. Snow should just be left as the domain of skiing for those who enjoy riding fatbikes through snowy woods. This is a more suitable and enjoyable option for some people who would rather stick to the traditional activities for snow sports.
