As part of our ongoing mission on Sol 2075, we will focus the majority of our planning efforts on conducting a methane experiment using our SAM instrument to analyze an atmospheric sample. While we prioritize this task, we were able to allocate an extra 45 minutes for additional science activities. This time was split between our Environmental (ENV) and Geologic (GEO) theme groups.
The ENV group will be engaged in several atmospheric monitoring tasks aimed at evaluating dust opacity using Navcam and Mastcam. This includes capturing line-of-sight images and measuring tau. In addition, ENV will search for dust devils by taking a series of images with Navcam and monitoring the deck with Mastcam.
On the other hand, the GEO group has planned a ChemCam LIBS observation on the nodular target known as “Little Marais.” Previously analyzed on Sol 2074, this additional observation will aid us in gaining a better understanding of its chemistry. Furthermore, ChemCam will take an RMI image of the Duluth drill hole, which will assist us in planning future drill hole targeting activities over the weekend.
