Barcelona forward Marc Guiu scored another goal at the Under-17 World Cup, helping Spain advance to the quarter-finals of the competition. In their final group fixture, Spain defeated Japan 2-1, with Guiu’s teammate Quim Junyent also finding the back of the net in the game.
Junyent opened the scoring for La Rojita after just eight minutes of the match, and Japan equalized five minutes before halftime. In the second half, Junyent provided an assist to Guiu, who scored the winning goal, securing Spain’s spot in the quarter-finals. Junyent was awarded man of the match.
Spain will now face either Germany or America for a chance to advance to semi-finals. If they play against Germany, Spain’s Barca contingent will come up against Noah Darvich, who has been performing well for his national side at this tournament.
