The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame inducted two Texas A&M legends, Anjanette Kirkland and Andrea Williams, into its Class of 2024. The induction ceremony was held at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.
Kirkland, a former track & field athlete from Holmes High School in San Antonio, competed for Texas A&M from 1993-97. She is already a member of the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame, the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame, and the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. During her time at Texas A&M, Kirkland excelled as a hurdler, winning multiple conference titles and earning All-America honors. She currently serves as the head track and field coach at Cypress Woods High School in Houston.
Williams, who attended Churchill High School, played volleyball and basketball for Texas A&M from 1992-1995. She was the first Aggie to letter in both sports in the same year and helped lead both teams to the NCAA Sweet 16. Williams has since had a successful career in athletics administration and currently serves as the Chief Experience Officer for the NBA’s Utah Jazz.
The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 also includes former Converse Judson High School football coach Jim Rackley and Julius Whittier, the first Black football letterman at the University of Texas.
