Sugar Factory Faces Eviction from Indianapolis Location Amid Unpaid Rent Dispute

In Indianapolis, a landlord has taken legal action to evict Sugar Factory from its location at Circle Centre Mall. The restaurant subsidiary SF Indianapolis 88 LLC. has been in default of its lease since January 2023, according to a complaint filed by Circle Centre Mall, LLC. in March. Court filings in Marion County Superior Court 3 reveal that the landlord sent a letter to Sugar Factory outlining that the subsidiary owes over $333,000 in back rent.

Sugar Factory, a New York City-based restaurant known for its sweet treats and adult beverages, opened its Indianapolis location in April 2022 at 49 W. Maryland Street, the former site of Palomino restaurant. An eviction hearing for Sugar Factory has been scheduled for May 1st as it appears that the landlord is taking action to resolve the issue of unpaid rent and remove Sugar Factory from the premises if necessary.

The move by the landlord comes after months of failed attempts to collect rent payments from Sugar Factory’s subsidiary company SF Indianapolis 88 LLC. According to court filings, the landlord sent several letters requesting payment but received no response from SF Indianapolis 88 LLC.

It is unclear what led to this situation but it is clear that both parties are not happy with each other. The eviction hearing will be an important moment for both sides as they try to find a resolution to this issue before it escalates further.

In conclusion, this case highlights the importance of paying rent on time and maintaining open communication between tenants and landlords. It also serves as a reminder that legal action can be taken if payments are not made on time which can lead to severe consequences for both parties involved.
