Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) Unveils New Chip Manufacturing Technology Ahead of U.S. Rival Intel

At a conference in Santa Clara, California, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) announced that their new chip manufacturing technology, “A16”, is set to enter production in the second half of 2026. This technology will enable the delivery of power to computing chips from the backside of the chip, which will help accelerate artificial intelligence chips. This advancement has been an area of competition for TSMC with U.S. rival Intel.

TSMC is well-known for producing the world’s fastest chips as a contract manufacturer for companies such as Nvidia. However, Intel has recently stated that they expect to surpass TSMC in the speed of chip production with their “14A” technology in 2026. This highlights the ongoing competition in the semiconductor industry to develop faster and more advanced technologies to meet the demands of consumers.

The developments in chip manufacturing technologies by TSMC and Intel demonstrate the ongoing race for innovation and improvement in the semiconductor industry. As technology continues to evolve, companies will need to stay at the forefront of these advancements to remain competitive in the market.
