According to Iván Rivas Rodríguez, the State Secretary of Economy in Nuevo León, the recent global staff reduction at Tesla will not affect the construction of Giga Mexico. In an interview with Milenio, he stated that the work on Tesla Giga Mexico is progressing as planned and that the company’s investment in the municipality of Santa Catarina remains on track.
Rodríguez reassured that despite some layoffs at Tesla, the construction of the plant is ongoing and that collaboration with Tesla has not changed. He stated that there is no perceived risk and everything is proceeding as planned in coordination with the company.
Recent reports have indicated that some employees received notification via email that they were being laid off due to cost reductions and increased productivity. However, workers at Tesla Giga Berlin in Europe have not received any news of impending layoffs. Reports of potential job cuts in Berlin have been refuted by Tesla, emphasizing the need to go through appropriate channels to lay off workers in Germany.
Tesla has recently announced a new phase of growth and this may be one reason for the cost reductions and increased productivity measures being taken by the company. It remains to be seen what impact these changes will have on the company’s future plans and expansion efforts.
