Damion Lee has announced that he will not exercise his $2.8 million player option with the Phoenix Suns for the 2024-25 season. Instead, he will return to the team on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. If Lee can regain his form after missing the entire 2023-24 season due to a right meniscus injury, he will provide the Suns with additional depth at the shooting guard position, alongside players like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen. With 14 players under contract and known additions, the Suns have one roster spot left to fill.
Lee originally signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2023-24 season and averaged 8.2 points on 44.2% shooting and 44.5% from long range in 74 games played, with five starts. He also contributed three rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 20.4 minutes. After that season, Lee and the team agreed on his current deal, which included a player option. Lee initially entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Atlanta Hawks in 2016. He played 15 games with the Hawks, 11 of which he started, during the 2017-18 season under then-coach Mike Budenholzer.
