The battle for clear and transparent healthcare pricing in the United States

The fight for transparent health care prices in America is the focus of today’s On Point program. A lack of transparency has prompted Congress, employers, and unions to demand changes in the law requiring hospitals to post their prices online.

According to a recent report, only about 36% of hospitals are fully complying with this law. This lack of transparency has led to frustration and confusion for patients who often struggle to understand the cost of medical procedures and treatments.

The guests on the show include Cynthia Fisher, founder and chairman of PatientRightsAdvocate.org, Molly Smith, group vice president for public policy at the American Hospital Association, Adam Beck, senior vice president for commercial employer and product policy at America’s Health Insurance Plans, Kevin Lyons, director of member benefits for the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, Zachary Bessler, a software engineer, and Jeff Millhollin, president and CEO of Pacific Steel & Recycling. They will discuss the challenges facing patients when it comes to understanding healthcare costs and what steps can be taken to improve transparency in this area.

The program is scheduled to air on February 13th with audio available after the broadcast.
