Local Maryville Business Raises Funds for Fallen Blount County Officer’s Family by Selling Shirts

In the wake of the tragic loss of Deputy Greg McCowan, the community of Maryville, Tennessee has come together to support his family. Pokey’s and Sports, a downtown Maryville business, has taken initiative by selling tribute shirts for $20 each to help the family. Julie Nelson, who expressed everyone’s desire to do something to help, explained that buying a shirt was a simple yet meaningful way for people to contribute.

The response to this initiative has been overwhelming, with over 500 shirts already made. The local community has shown tremendous support, ordering shirts to express their condolences and show their solidarity with the McCowan family during this difficult time. John Lindboe, part of the management at Pokey’s and Sports, shared that many of those affected by the tragedy were known to the community. This personal connection has motivated many to contribute by purchasing tribute shirts.

As orders continue to come in, Pokey’s and Sports has committed to printing and selling shirts for as long as there is demand. For those unable to visit the store, online orders and in-store pickups are available for convenience. The outpouring of support from the community is a testament to the impact Deputy McCowan had on the people he served.
