On Thursday, Beaver Local emerged victorious over East Palestine in a baseball game that saw the Beavers take home an 11-1 victory. Coach Mark Cashdollar highlighted the importance of hitting for his team’s success, stating that it makes all the difference in their performance. The Beavers improved to 4-8 after the win, while East Palestine fell to 2-4.
The highlight of the game was a big second inning for Beaver Local, where they scored six runs. Delaney Morris had a crucial double that brought in two runs, giving the Beavers a significant lead. Morris spoke about the importance of clearing her mind to contribute to her team’s success and had two hits and three RBIs on top of that. Sydney Wilson-Plunkett also had a strong game with two hits and three RBIs, including a single that helped give Beaver Local the lead. Other players like Addison Eells, Lora Reeder and several others also contributed with hits, RBIs and runs scored.
East Palestine initially took the lead in the first inning but struggled to generate hits for the rest of the game. Coach Clarence Andre acknowledged the tough competition Beaver Local presented and highlighted the importance of making defensive plays. Despite having no earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts, Eells pitched a solid game nonetheless.
