The 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship kicked off in Spain with the GP of Comunitat Valenciana in Albaida. French rider Thomas Chareyre emerged victorious in the opening round of the championship, battling it out with the number-one plate holder, Mark Reiner Schmidt of Germany, to claim the overall win.
Riding a Honda CRF450R, Chareyre faced tough competition from KTM rider Julen Avila Cortes of Spain who finished third overall. Italian Elia Sammartin and Spanish rider Ferran Cardus rounded out the top five overall positions. In the SuperMoto Legends class, Czech rider Petr Vorlicek on a Honda clinched the victory with Great Britain’s Jay Smith on KTM and Scott Murray on Honda following close behind. Mark Reiner Schmidt from Germany finished as the runner-up on a TM bike.
