Together, Senators Brown and Vance Advocate for Disaster Relief for Ohio’s Logan County”.

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) have teamed up to urge the Small Business Administration to declare a disaster for Logan County in Ohio. This would provide much-needed support for businesses and homes that were damaged by the tornadoes that hit the region on March 14, 2024. Governor DeWine has also called for a disaster declaration, hoping to make low-interest loans available to businesses that need help repairing the damage caused by the tornadoes.

The tornadoes that swept through Central Ohio on March 14 caused widespread destruction, resulting in the loss of homes, apartments, and businesses. The tragedy claimed lives and left many others with serious injuries. Despite affecting 11 counties in the area, it was Logan County that suffered particularly severe economic losses due to the natural disasters.

Governor DeWine has determined that families and businesses in Logan County require assistance from SBA disaster relief programs after sustaining significant losses during the natural disasters.

Senators Brown and Vance have not only been advocating for aid in Logan County but have also urged President Biden’s administration to issue a FEMA disaster declaration for several other Ohio counties affected by tornadoes, including Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Mercer, Miami, Richland and Union. By securing disaster declarations for these areas as well, they hope communities receive much-needed support to recover and rebuild after these natural disasters.

The tornadoes that struck Central Ohio were devastating events with long-lasting impacts on both individuals and communities. However, Senators Brown and Vance’s efforts are helping bring relief to affected areas across Ohio through their calls for disaster declarations from federal agencies such as SBA and FEMA.
