Tri-State Community Health Center Receives $1.4 Million Grant to Expand Access to Healthcare Services in Memphis

Tri-State Community Health Center in Memphis has been awarded a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This grant will help the health center continue its efforts to provide much-needed healthcare services to the underserved population in the area.

In his statement, Congressman Steve Cohen of TN-9 emphasized the critical need that Tri-State Community Health Center fulfills by serving many individuals who do not have access to affordable health insurance due to Tennessee’s failure to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare. The lack of Medicaid expansion in Tennessee puts a strain on financially burdened hospitals who are left to provide high levels of uncompensated care to uninsured individuals. This also prevents Tennesseans from fully benefiting from a federal program that they already contribute to through their tax dollars.

Congressman Cohen commended Tri-State Community Health Center for their important work and expressed his gratitude that they were awarded these funds to support their services.
