As the summer approaches, the UCF football team’s receiving corps is shaping up to be a formidable force for the 2024 season. With two of their top three receivers returning, including Kobe Hudson who had an impressive 900 yards and 8 touchdowns, and Xavier Townsend who had 325 yards and 3 touchdowns, the Knights have a solid foundation to build upon.
Following Javon Baker’s departure, Hudson is expected to step into the limelight as the team’s top target. Coach Gus Malzahn is confident in Hudson’s ability to take on a larger role and is excited to see him grow into the No. 1 receiver position. With players like Trent Whittemore, Jarrad Baker, Chauncey Magwood, and Tyree Patterson also expected to contribute, the receiving corps looks to have depth and talent.
In addition to the returning players, transfers Jacoby Jones and Ja’Varrius Johnson are expected to provide additional depth and skill to the receiving unit. Early enrollees Bredell Richardson, Kason Stokes, and Jordyn Bridgewater have impressed the coaching staff during spring practices, further adding to the competition within the group.
With a mix of experienced veterans and talented newcomers, the UCF receiving corps looks poised to be a key strength for the team in the upcoming season. Coach Malzahn and his staff have high expectations for this group and are optimistic about the potential for success in the passing game.
