Cameroon Football Association Surprised by Sports Ministry’s Choice of New Team Coach

The sports ministry’s decision to appoint Marc Brys as the new coach of Cameroon’s national football team has left the federation surprised and concerned. The federation expressed its astonishment at the unilateral decision made by the ministry, which went against the terms of Decree No. 2014/384 regarding the organization of national football teams.

The federation was not aware of Brys’ appointment and is now working to investigate the situation. They are in contact with FIFA to address concerns about government involvement in national football, as it is prohibited under FIFA regulations. Rigobert Song, whose contract expired after the Africa Cup of Nations, had led the team to the round of 16 in this year’s tournament.

The federation is seeking clarity on this matter and is working hard to resolve it. They emphasized that they are committed to abiding by all regulations governing national football teams and are disappointed that there was a lack of consultation in this decision-making process.
